Northwestern State University has the friendliest staff. The recruiting office hires the nicest, knowledgeable people. Northwestern has a diverse group of students. There are a lot of "non-traditional" students and "traditional" students, so everyone can fit in. NSU offers big-campus activities and clubs, with a small-campus feel.
Because it is a smaller university, they don't offer as many degrees as the larger universities. But, they excel in many fields, i.e. elementary education, nursing, CIS. They even offer aviation.
NSU has average dorms, but they are working on building new housing to compete with nice apartments that are building close to the campus. Natchitoches is a small town, so it is easy to live off-campus and commute too.
I highly recommend NSU.
