Not So Thrifty Store 11/7/2006

My family loves bargain shopping. When my fiance's boss told him they wouldn't be working yesterday, we decided to check out some of the thrift stores in town, just to see what bargains we could come across. We decided to look for jeans for him. We ended up at the Outreach Thrift Store, which is in the little complex in front of the East side Walmart, right off 12th Street. The first thing I noticed is that this store is quite a bit smaller than the other thrift stores in town, about a quarter of the size. They do offer a few household items, but it consists of more clothes than anything. We started looking around, and we were both pretty shocked. They were selling used jeans for $15 or more a pair!!! I just could not believe that, as I could go to the Goodwill in Norman, and no matter what the brand, the jeans are three dollars per pair. If you do some digging, there are a few good deals. My fiance found a light jacket for eight dollars, which we did consider fair, but all in all, the prices just seemed way too high for used items. more
