SAILING JEM in QUEENS - Review by John S | The American Small Craft Assoc Inc

The American Small Craft Assoc Inc

There is a little known jem in Flushing Meadow Park called TASCA - The American Small Craft Association. It is a nonprofit organization composed of accomplshed sailors dedicated to teaching people to sail at an affordable price. You will learn how to single hand a small sailboat with a jib and mainsail. Docking, picking up a mooring , nautical knots, and learning to read the wind and water are all taught. After successful completion of the course you can join the club and sail for free to improve your skills. They also offer advanced courses which are free to members who wish to become instructors or skipper dockmasters. Dues are only $45. because members volunteer to do the maintenance and instruction. Weekends at Meadow Lake are great fun with racing and pot luck barbeques. Several times a year they go on advanced sailing trips or rendezvous to Florida, Connecticut, Shelter Islald, Maryland or the Caribbean. You can learn more at more
