Levent Tailor Shop

Quality of work less than amateur level.... 2/21/2007

I figured that I would give this place a try after my tailor left the area. What a mistake. Fortunately, I only had them shorten the sleeves on two sport coats. The price was very reasonable, something like $20-25 for the two (seemed reasonable enough to me) but the work was worse than awful; The lining at the cuff area that had been altered was sewed unevenly and the stitching was extremely loose. Worse than that, the sleeves on one of the jackets had been shortened unevenly! One was about 3/4 of an inch shorter than the other! I did not notice this in the shop, due to the fact that I did not try the jackets on because I was picking them up close to closing time on that day. These weren't cheap hand-me-downs or polyester garments either, they were $350 (each) wool/cashmere blend jackets. Looking back, it seems as if they sent my garments to a middle school home economics sewing class or some kind of AA sewing class where somebody slipped up and got drunk and did the alterations. Fortunately, there are highly skilled tailors in the area who take pride in their work and the coats were salvageable. more
