Knight Cap

dark, small, expensive, but good steak. 1/31/2007

It's a very small place, so you'll need to make a reservation a couple days in advance if you're planning a weekend meal. This isn't a typical bar/steakhouse: dress above casual or you'll be out of place. Once inside the dark little room, you'll be ushered into a 'cozy' booth with 'romantic' lighting. The salad isn't very good at all, the service is aristocratic, but the steaks are out of this world. I had the 16 oz NY Strip Steak, and it was every bit of 18 oz, cooked to perfection - melted in my mouth. My wife was far less satisfied with her meal. The shrimp cocktail isn't shrimp at all, but "jumbo shrimp" (which are a totally different species: prahn - a cheaper alternative that taste awful), and not worth the $1.50 per shrimp they charge. For a steak dinner & another meal (I don't remember what she had, but it wasn't higher than everything else on the menu), with 2 cokes, our bill was $70.... Extraordinarily high - We eat @ Applebees & Champs for $35! more
