Lincoln Christian Preschool - Review by Lisa C | Lincoln Christian School

Lincoln Christian School

Lincoln Christian Preschool 12/20/2006

My child attended preschool at Lincoln Christian school and had a great experience with Mrs. Kugel and Mrs. Siedel! I was pleased with the social and academic preparation my child received at this school. She also was given a great Christian foundation with all the lessons about the Bible and instruction in prayer. Although I was pleased with the program, the parking situation is a bit crowded and may be problematic for parents who have tight schedules. This school also recommends that children attend Kindergarten when they turn six, which is called "academic redshirting" by educators. The question should not be: "Is my five-year-old child ready for school?" It should be "Is your school ready for my five-year-old child?" My daughter attended Norris Elementary two weeks after she turned five. She does well in academics but still needs to work on listening and work habits. Research has revealed that children who attend school at age five may lag behind a little in the beginning, but are at the same level as the older children by the second grade. Sending a child to Kindergarten at age five challenges the child and strengthens the pathways in their brains. This will give them an academic edge later in life.
