The food is sub par, the service is unfriendly, and the professionalism of the employees is abysmal, AT BEST!
Upon entry of the restaurant, one employee was working the register, while two or three others were casually occupying customer seats near the entryway. Whether or not the seated employees were on break is completely trivial.
Two young ladies were ordering ahead of me. The young employee behind the counter seemed to be having difficulties with their order, but that did not catch the eyes of employees sitting at the table. Meanwhile, I stood by, waiting to be served.
You would think that one of the idle employees could get up and take my order. Apparently, that was too difficult for them. However, they had no trouble gawking at the girl's "butts" in front of me, which of course I was privy to hearing and witnessing. Ironically (and I never imagined this happening in a workplace environment, with a customer blatantly aware of what was occurring, nonetheless), one employee pulled out his silver Motorola RAZR cell phone and took pictures of the girls in front of me.
Call me crazy, but I'm sure this employee was not interested in the current hairstyles these girls were fashioning. Based on his juvenile pride and stark admission that he could not wait to post these pictures on myspace.com (not to mention the obvious angle of his cell phone), he was clearly interested in other body parts.
Only after the pictures were snapped (several minutes thereafter), did one employee (who may have been a superior to the others) jump out of his seat and decide to take my order. It took me less than a minute to order my food, and close to five minutes to witness a true and unmistakable form of sexual harassment. Whether or not this was serious, or the girls were aware of what was happening, I was an innocent bystander (A CUSTOMER) who wanted nothing more than to order a simple burrito. Eventually, an employee handed me my food that I had been desperately and awkwardly waiting for, seemingly for an eternity.
As I was getting into my car, I saw a father with his young child entering the restaurant. Part of me wanted to approach this man and tell him not to enter, but I hesitated too long, and he and his child found their way through the doors.
After eating my less than average dinner, I located the corporate number for Baja Fresh online and immediately contacted a customer service agent. I told her my story in hopes that those in charge will appropriately discipline these employees. I wanted her to hear of the gross and negligent behavior I saw on behalf of the Baja employees, constituting the lowest form of professionalism I have personally witnessed.
The sheer inability to behave in a respectful and humane manner should be enough to cost these employees their jobs. Clearly, this is something I cannot control. I, for one, have made my last trip to this restaurant, and that is something completely within my power. If you are thinking about dining in this establishment, consider my review prior to your visit. No dining experience is worth the price of witnessing atrocious behavior!
