Great if you like salads, soup or potatoes 12/4/2006

I have been to Crispers a couple of times, and haven't really been disappointed. I am used to spicier food, and I guess that is my only complaint, but if that my only complaint, it isn't too bad. They have potatoes, salads, sandwiches, wraps, flat bread, and desert. The salads are pretty big, so bring your appetite. Many of the specialty salads have a lot of ingredients, are seasonal, and give you a choice of meat. They have regular salads for the people who don't like to have all of the special ingredients. There are wonderful soups, some are daily soups which are standard, and some change daily. I love the broccoli soup. The baked potatoes come a few different ways, basic, with butter, etc; the next is with soup added on top filling and tasty(a large amt of soup is on it); and the last is a hot entrée, you choose from their selections to make it a meal. It is huge, so unless you plan to bring some home, or can eat a lot, don't order it. The potatoes are all fantastic, but I prefer the soup. The sandwiches are good, I just like to bring my own hot sauce from home, because mine is very hot and it changes the taste of everything I eat. The sandwiches range from hot and a little fancy, to normal everyday sandwiches. They also have classic sandwiches which are basic, regular sandwiches, on your choice of bread. They are listed on the menu and are very reasonably priced. They have wraps which are tasty, and they even have low carb wraps. Deserts are pretty basic and I believe they are made from Publix, the company that they are owned by. I forgot the flat bread. It is great, but there is only one catch, for them to cook it, you need to eat in the restaurant. If you want to take it home, they will have it ready for you to put it in your own oven. The principle, you don't want soggy flat bread from the store. I don't blame them. This bread is crisp and full of wonderful of ingredients that would turn the bread soggy, but I like to eat in the store anyway. They have 2 lines, eat in and take out. The take out line is great when you call ahead and the food is ready for you. Just call 813 654 9940 ahead of time and tell them what you want. They tell you how long it will take, and you walk up to the counter up front and you walk out with a wonderful meal for anywhere you need to be. The second is the line for eat in. You walk in, tell them what you want, order your drinks,( I will go into those in a moment), pay, and sit down, they bring the food to you. They have drinks such as fountain drinks, hot coffee and tea, ( I love the chai tea), frozen coffee drinks, smoothies, and milkshakes. They also have a kids menu. Catering menus are also available, and it is very reasonable. They have Crispers all over Florida, but I know of the ones in the Tampa Bay area. They are run by the Publix food chain, which is known for their high quality food, and good service (I worked for them when I was young, that was a LONG time ago) they have very high standards. more
