While the medical proffessionalism of this hospital is touted top notch, the enviroment leaves something to be desired. Being a level one trauma center and county hospital lends to legistical and safety issues.
First off- with doctors appointments or urgent care-- ie: the emergency room-- you will wait long and hard. Even with an appointment you will basically be at the mercy of the schedule. Relatives of ours have to arrange to be there all day for a doctors appointment because they are always left waiting hours and hours. The waiting facilities are outdated and uncomfortable too.
As far as saftey-- perhaps this is my perspective as a hospital Security Professional-- it can be a difficult situation to treat a public generally prone to violence. Not all of course-- but this is where all the shooting, gang fights, stabbings etc... are transported too making it a legistical security nightmare.
The care is supposed to amazing but the other factors can make it undesireable to go there.
