Weeks ago I reserved a truck through the Budget online reservation system. The closest location was Box Solutions in Ballard. My reservation was for a full day (pick up at 8 am, drop off by the next morning) for $29.99 - their full day rental for a 17' truck. I called the store to confirm that if we dropped the truck off prior to them opening the next day, we would only be charged the $29.99 rate but if we arrived after they opened we would be charged for another day. That was no problem as we planned to have the truck back by the same evening.
A week prior to our scheduled move day, I called to confirm the truck reservation. I spoke with Tony, the manager. He confirmed our reservation for the whole day (Saturday) and our price ($29.99). Everything was great until this morning (3 days before our big move).
I got a call from Tony, the manager and same person I confirmed our reservation with a few days prior. He said that since our reservation was on one of the busiest days of the month, they were splitting the day into two shifts (morning and afternoon rentals). He said if we wanted the truck for the full day, we would be charged for two days ($59.98 total).
Bottom line, they decided they would double charge us for one day because they got busy. He said that the online reservation system shouldn't have allowed our reservation - but he didn't alert us to any problems when I called just a few days ago. When I told him that he had put us in a bad situation so close to our move, he said there was nothing he could do.
Reservations are just that, reservations. Ours shows that we have the truck for the entire day. Tony should have honored our reservation. In the end, we cancelled. They are not getting our money, Handy Andy Truck Rentals is!
Beware of Box Solutions and Budget Truck Rentals in Ballard!
