As if Shirley and Thornton Garvin were not enough reason to buy everything you can trom them, the wonderful staff are another. Their hiring policies give me new hope about the right way to do things. Discounts, seasonal specials, flea market items--one could spend hours. If they don't have it they can often get it. The owners and staff are always helpful and knowledgeable and they can save you a bundle of overspending elsewhere. Plus they are PERSONABLE CHARACTERS. From time to time there is even fresh produce there grown by an employee . They have high end ceramic planters and great affordable garden decor. They stock generic Roundup, which I didn't even know existed, certainly not at Lowe's, Home Depot, Reid's, etc., but thanks to Thornton now I do. It is quite a buy and is identical to the name brand. All the best potting mixes are there and CHEAPER than elsewhere. Mulches by delivery and by self-pick up too.
I found a fabulous antique Chinese embroidered wall hanging there too. Who knew? Do yourself a fall favor and GO.
I don't ever want there to be a time when this store and its wonderful goods and people are not a part of my life. They are having their 3rd Annual Customer Appreciation Barbeque on Oct. 3. These folks work so hard they often have to rest at the store before heading home in the afternoon. It doesn't get any better than this.
