Local Waterfront Drink/Dine 10/6/2006

Two Georges is a popular waterfront eating and drinking establishment right next to the Banana Boat. While Banana Boat is more upscale, Two Georges has more of a local, salt-water air to it (and seems to have louder, more drunken patrons later at night). We came recently for a few drinks before a night out and had some calamari, conch fritters, and some spinach and artichoke dip. The calamari was deliciously crisp, served with a marinara sauce, but the conch fritters were disappointing. It was more like a conch patty that was sliced off of a loaf. Spinach and artichoke dip was good. We didn’t have dinner that night (entrees looked a little pricey, but sandwiches and the like are closer to the $10 range). Previous times I’ve been to Two Georges for a lunch stop from a day of boating were pleasant. Sitting farther away from the bar is nicer, and I had a lovely shrimp melt sandwich. I’d recommend this place more for lunch than dinner, and not for an evening of drinking unless you plan to get rowdy! more
