Bens is a classic deli 8/27/2006

There is really not too much difference between the Ben's delis. This is the first time I had eaten at the one on 38th Street in Manhattan. It is an attractive restaurant, although it is not typical of a deli, which to me has less atmosphere than this location (it is on the elegant side for a deli). The menu is quite extensive--almost like a Greek diner. There are dozens of deli sandwiches--things like corned beef, pastrami, tongue, etc. There are pickles, pickled green tomatoes, and cole slaw on the table. But there are also salads and things we do not think of as typical deli fare. The service was on the slow side, but I was there with seven other people, who did not all come at exactly the same time. In short, a nice deli experience. more
