In the heart of bustling Bellevue sits a rural pasture called Kelsey Creek farm ( http://www.ci.bellevue.wa.us/kelsey_creek.htm ). This is a great day trip to take the kids. There are trail paths for jogging, hiking and bike riding (for the kids). They can ride the bike to the kids playground (with bathroom facilities) for a picnic, a game of tag or Frisbee. Then head over to the farm so the kids can have a first hand look at livestock: the grazing sheep, cows, ponies, Molly the pig, chickens, goats, rabbits. I like this park because it is off the beaten path (read: not crowded). You have to know about it.
Admission is free. The park is located in historic Wilburton neighborhood. Watch the signs carefully at I only saw three and they get exponentially smaller as you get closer to the park. You can see the animals until 3:30pm, but the park is open dawn til dusk.
