I am filing this under "everything happens for a reason"
I usually only like to give good reviews about businesses and avoid any negativity unless the experience or infraction was so egregious that I feel ethically compelled to warn others.
Such is the case with Gimmees.com, an on line promotional company with whom I have done business in the past.
I recently wanted to place a reorder of very nice wall calendars I like to give to my clients, business contacts, and acquaintances as a thank you for doing real estate business with me or sending folks my way. It also serves as advertising all year around since it has my name, company logo and contact information on the bottom.
As I said, this was a reorder that was the same as last year with only a minor change to the imprint text. I submitted the artwork changes using the specifications I had been supplied. When I received the artwork proof it was completely different from the artwork I sent them. They had deleted text and not used the logo I supplied. I was told vi e-mail by their art department that the changes didn't meet their specifications so they made the changes they felt were necessary and if I wanted to make any changes to their proof I would have to pay extra. I was shocked. In response I said that I didn't believe it was fair or reasonable to expect the customer to pay additional for changes that needed to be made to their artwork proof because they just went ahead and made changes to my artwork without discussing it with me or getting my authorization first. I asked would they please supply the proper specifications so I could adjust the artwork to meet them or if that wasn't possible just cancel the order.
You guessed it...rather than supplying that info and adjusting the proof to the way I wanted it...they just canceled the order.
In any event, I found a Colorado based promotional company that not only gave me a much better deal on the same product, but also had the order and artwork wrapped up in just an afternoon. Kudos to the Lauder Company (www.laudercompany.com) out of Golden, Colorado.
