Food Maxx 1/29/2007

FoodMaxx on the corner of Union and California Ave. This FoodMaxx is newer than the one that we used to go to on Columbus and this one is much neater and cleaner. The neighborhood isn’t the greatest but they usually have a security guard out front. This is the store that I have had homeless people ask for money the most often [perhaps because the welfare office is across the street] so if you aren’t comfortable with that, maybe another store might be best. I, myself, am not comfortable with it so I prefer WinCo. But FoodMaxx does have some things that we use on a regular basis that we can’t get at any other store. Plus it’s the grocery store that is the closest to where we live. We used to go to this FoodMaxx all the time until WinCo came to Bakersfield. We buy Gold Medal margarine and Sunny Select tater tots at Food Maxx. They are the tastiest and the cheapest for our family needs. The FoodMaxx bakery makes very good French bread too. The rest of the month we just visit FoodMaxx to buy the few things that we need to get through the rest of the month until we do our major shopping expedition to WinCo Foods. more
