Pongsri is a comfortable-sized Thai restaurant on West 23rd that I ventured into tonight with a couple of friends. The waiters were very nice. My friends were 25 minutes late and I was not given a hard time about keeping a table for 4.
One of my friends who is not too interested in Thai food (if only she had let us know before we met!) was able to find a simple chicken dish to her liking.
What's very nice is that they are willing to take every dish and make it mild, spicy, or super hot, according to your desire.
I had the "Big Bird Lovers Nest" - excellent! A dried noodle basket full of perfectly flavored chicken mixed with several veggies, pineapple and cashew nuts, in a mild sauce.
They have thai iced tea and coffee, and even San Pellegrino.
A great place to come for a good, relaxing meal, if you like Thai.
