This is about the Best Buy on 86th and Lexington - had such a bad experience there recently I just had to write about it on Judy's Book!
My dad wanted to buy a computer monitor. He's very computer saavy, so once we found the monitor section, he chose what he wanted, and since we didn't see any on the shelf, we needed a sales rep. Of course, none to be found.
So, I march over to the computer counter. There's about 5 Best Buy employees there. Two of them seem to be having "watercooler chat" around a PC, so I ask if they could help me with a monitor. They say, "No, but she can." Pointing to a woman in a white sweater. I approach her, and she looks dazed and confused, like I've just asked her to solve a complex alegebra equation, but she comes over to the monitors. When we explain the model we want isn't on the shelf - which she checks, in case we might be lying or something - she says she'll have to get someone ELSE to help us.
She walks away, and after 5 minutes of nothing, I go back to the computer counter to find her, and she says, "someone with the key is on his way."
I go back to the monitors. A very friendly woman comes over and says, "Do you need help?" "YESSSSSSS!" I cry out with joy, having finally found someone who seems to want our business, "we need a monitor."
"Oh," she replies, "I don't know anything about that, but would you like to sign up for Verizon DSL?" I was just dumbstruck. I mean, what idiot asks you for help who doesn't even work for the store???
Long story short - after 2 more reps, and a supposed review of their inventory, the monitor my dad wanted wasn't in stock. So, they get the manager, he calls another store, and tells us we can go pick it up in midtown.
My dad says, "How quick can you get that store to send it up here?"
The manager says, "We're out of stock."
My dad says, "Right, so when can your other location send one up here."
The manager says, "No, we don't have any."
My dad got a bit annoyed, asked the guy to LISTEN and then to confirm "what you're saying is, you can't get your other store to ship the monitor up here?"
"That's right, we don't do that." said the manager.
So, I say, "OK, dad, we can just go to Circuit City."
And the manager says, "have a nice day, goodbye."
Use this store as an absolute last resort.
