If there's one thing the Hill is notorious for (Besides Congressmen caught with their pants down.it's having few places to get a decent meal. Let's be honest, unless you belong to one of the Congressional private clubs, you're limited to bars serving chicken wings that should you decide to dine in, wreak of cigarette smoke from the 80's and last night's on the floor intern vomit. It's no wonder I rarely make it to the Hill.
However, I had a lunch date with my friend Sarah and once I met up with her at Longworth, she suggested we do restaurant week on the hill. I was skeptical, the last thing I needed was a three course enchilada dinner from tortilla coast.
Thankfully she took me to Sonoma, a wine bar. A place that can best be described as minimalist sheik with bare walls, and large community tables. We sat at the bar where bartender scott served us surprisingly delicious food. The portions were a bit small, but with a three course meal I didn't mind. Over all, the service was excellent and the food even better. It was a great surprise from Capitol hill!
