I was looking for a non chain Italian restaurant within an easy drive of where we were staying in Houston. Patrenellas seemed an obvious choice.
Located on a residential street the restaurant is located in a house and blends very nicely into the neighborhood.
There are 4 dining rooms and the atmosphere is lively and relaxed. There is enough space between the tables to also make it a fine place for a romantic dinner.
The food and service was very good. The portions are generous but not the overwhelming size of some of the chains.
Service was excellent and we never wanted for anything. While you are deciding what to order you can nosh on the olives and parmesan cheese cubes that are placed on your table along with a basket of crusty bread.
We tried a variety of appetizers and entrées and everything was as good or better than you would expect.
