La Folie 4/26/2006

The only reason I ever got to eat here is that I lied and said I was in the wine business and scammed them into letting me use an expired gift certificate someone gave me. Even with $300 covered, the money on top of that (tax, tip) still made the experience one of the most expensive meals I've ever paid for – and that was without wine! This is the crème-de-la-crème of French cuisine. Personally, I have no experiences to compare it to. Foie gras on top of fillet mignon? Crazy. I can't imagine what would ever justify spending this much money on food. But if that's you're thing, I don't think you'll be disappointed. To me, La Folie is less of a restaurant and more like an art museum where instead of walking around looking at paintings, the works are on your plate and you can take a knife and a fork and cut them up and put them into your body and poop them out later. That's really how I felt eating here. more
