A Child's Safety Should Come First 4/17/2006

On Saturday, December 11, 2004, my 2-year-old great-grandson wandered off from the play area in the center of the mall. Over 5 minutes passed while me, my daughter-in-law and other parents searched the mall for him. I approached the Treasure Island Jewelry Store and asked them to call mall security or 911, stating that my 2-year-old great-grandson was missing. At that time there were two or three employees working and they all just looked at me not saying anything. Stunned, I said "Does anyone speak English?!" A female Asian employee then replied very sternly, "Yes and I will call when I get finished with my customers." Nothing was done, and security was not called by this store at that time. Thank God my great-grandson was found in Sears. I feel there should have been more care and concern shown by the Treasure Island employees during this emergency situation. A child's safety is much more important than any sale or employee's commission. more
