We always got screwed here on repairs 4/17/2006

We used to bring lots of all-in-one Power macs in here because of failing motherboards, which Apple never admitted was a problem. Computer World would always repair them but they would charge us $300 to $400 per computer (labor and parts). I found out later that I could get the motherboard from ebay for about $15 and it took me less than 10 minutes to do the swap! I'm quite certain we were scammed at least 15 or more times. The staff really knows Apple stuff quite well, but even that's limited to what they stock. While I would wait I would routinely see people bringing in their computers saying, "I've been here three times already and you said it was fixed". I saw lots of unhappy customers come and go. That's unfortunate. Perhaps they've improved, but I doubt it. When you're the only Apple dealer in town it's hard to stay honest. more
