I was noticing that I wasn't exactly lighting up the night when my mom and I were out driving around earlier this week, so I asked her to take a look at my headlights when I let her out at her house.
It didn't surprise me in the least bit when she told me that my driver's side light was 100% out (as in both normal and bright).
Not to worry! I knew what to do about it as soon as I had a spare moment: visit Checkered Flag.
This friendly and efficient place on the northeast corner of Columbus Avenue and 53rd. Street is open Monday through Friday from eight until five for major auto repairs.
Fortunately, it's also open from eight until noon on Saturday for simple jobs such as oil changes and replacing headlight bulbs, because today (Saturday, September 16, 2006) is the first chance I had to get my One-Eyed Jack of a minivan up there.
In fact, I was running late even today and just got it in by the skin of my teeth.
Dan Foley (faithful employee of owner, Brad Vaught, for the past seven years) wasn't even sure if he could get me a bulb today but told me that he could try.
He was successful, and the bulb was delivered in a matter of minutes and was soon replacing the old, burnt-out one.
Although I get my oil changed elsewhere, I'll trust AJ's Groovy Igloo to the Checkered Flag crew for those other little problems such as burned-out bulbs. The only reason I don't have them to change my oil, too, is that I've already discovered another place. But more on the other place in another review.
All I know is that Checkered Flag is a pleasant place to go that's close to where I live and that the people there are honest, hardworking, and don't charge me an arm and a leg.
Not only am I impressed with their service, but I've also heard glowing reports from various other people, too.
One more thing...if the job is going to take awhile, it's only a short walk east to Yip's Chopstick House, so you can enjoy a delicious Chinese Buffet (or order from the menu) while your vehicle is being worked on.
