While looking for a good steakhouse to eat at with my mother, we saw a large sign marking "Alexander's Steakhouse," and figured that'd be just as good a place to go as any. So we decided to give it a try.
The restaurant is large, extremely large. Spacious, too, of course. Well-decorated, giving it a nic, comfortable, and unsloppy appearance. But we were stricken first by the site of a couple of large grills spaced throughout the restaurant.
We inquired into these grills and were told, "Oh, you cook your own steaks."
If we wanted to cook our own steaks, we would have stayed at the hotel and cooked our own steaks. I have no doubts in my steak-seasoning skills, and that would have undoubtedly be cheaper (as Alexander's menu is far from cheap).
They then told us, "We could cook them, if you want us to..." to which we replied, "Yes, please..." A few seconds later, they added, "With a small fee..."
So we had to pay for our steaks, and pay separately for them to be cooked. And while the steaks were rather tasty, I can readily say I've had better.
Worth the money? No. But if you're up for going out to do your own cooking, I'm sure it can provide quite an interesting experience.
