I ended up moving a few months ago and purchased all my furniture from ikea. I know there are people who are huge fans of ikea, but I've found my experience to be less than exciting. I made the mistake of going there by myself, and when you're trying to furnish a one-bedroom apartment, there's a LOT of furniture boxes to try to get down - and push to the check out. I had to ask about five employees before anyone would help me get my two carts to the checkout. While it's cheap - I think I was able to furnish my whole apartment for $1300 - you can certainly tell quality isn't really there with many of the products. The fronts are falling off of my dresser drawers (although Gorilla Glue worked really well to fix them) and I worry that the furniture wouldn't survive a move. The one surprisingly good piece I purchased? The bed.... For $200 the mattress is actually comfortable!
