I just went to J Alexander's with my sister for lunch. Its interior is reminiscent of a church with brick arches and a wood beamed ceiling. I had a very good, reasonable pinot noir (as a treat). Our appetizer was a special not on the menu. It consisted of warm, well-seasoned crispy tortilla chips and freshly made, chunky guacamole and a salsa that tasted like a cross between gazpacho and cocktail sauce. I also had the Ahi Tuna salad. There was a nice mixture of greens and cabbage in a large pile and a side of barely grilled rare tuna. It was very tasty. I was a little nervous about the wasabi vinaigrette since I'm not a fan of wasabi, but it was delicious. The restaurant was busy and a little loud but had no music playing.
The service was excellent and the food terrific. It was a little pricey but great as a special occasion or treat.
