Huge furniture store with non-pushy salespeople 4/6/2006

Ashley Furniture has a huge showroom and offers furniture for every room in your house in many styles (contemporary, traditional, etc.). My husband and I looked everywhere for a family room couch and finally had success at Ashley, where we found a few that would work and one that we loved. We weren't sure if the couch would fit through our odd-shaped entryway, and a salesperson helped us measure. We ended up buying it, and it has held up well over the last two years, despite the addition of a clawing kitten to our family. The furniture is of a decent (not top) quality and is well-priced. The salespeople must not be paid on commission or something, because it was actually hard for us to find someone to help us. There was a greeter in the entryway that tells you about the store if you are new and tells you how it is laid out. If you make it to the back of the store, there are free, freshly baked cookies and bottles of water. One other thing I liked was that on some of the walls were artwork and photography by local artists that were available for purchase. A very nice touch. We had our family room couch delivered and the delivery people brought it all the way in for us, no small feat considering we live in a second floor apartment with a small entryway. The one problem we did have was delays in getting the couch delivered. I think I must have called Ashley seven times in as many days! Despite this last issue, I'd recommend Ashley, especially for people who are just starting out or for anyone who wants attractive, decently constructed furniture at a relatively low price. more
