WXXI is the local Rochester affiliate for National Public Radio and PBS Television. The TV station is channel 21, and the radio stations are FM 91.5 (news and music) and AM 1370 (news/talk only). I am really impressed with the quality and variety of their programming, and their local Rochester hosts. WXXI seems to be more active in Rochester than the public stations were in other places I've lived. The science programming on PBS is particularly fascinating to me, but I seriously can't believe that they still have Lawrence Welk on the air on Sunday nights!! My wife's favorites are the History Detectives and America's Test Kitchen. We listen to NPR all the time in the car. It is really nice to watch/listen to something that engages your brain, unlike most current programming.
