Boston College McMullen Art Museum 4/20/2006

This is a great little museum on the Boston College campus. It's free to all visitors and is open to the public. Parking is a bit of a problem, especially when school is in session, and it is a little bit of a walk from the Boston College T Station. If you're just popping in quickly, you can usually find parking along Comm. Ave., but beware of the 1 hour time limit (long enough to see the exhibit, but not to hang around). Hours vary according to the school year, so check ahead. The permanent collection is small, but it has some nice things given its size (mostly some American and Italian paintings and some Flemish tapestries). The great thing here are the temporary exhibit, which are very thoughtfully put together and well curated. Often there is a special opening night for alumni. They also have monthly special programs, like lectures about the collections, which are also free. more
