As everyone else has already noted, this place is expensive! I love walking into it and feeling like I actually have the money to spend on gourmet food that is overpriced *even* for gourmet food, but alas, I don't (and hence try not to walk around too much so as not to be disappointed). If you've already been out shopping for a bit in the area though, and have worked up a very, very tiny appetite (that you don't necessarily want to satisfy w/ the nut vendors outside), I suggest going in and giving the samples a try. On a normal day you can get at least a couple different samples of bread and cheese, and on very good days they might even have some deserts out for you to try. (If you're really greedy - ask the guy at the deli to give you a sample of soup as if you were going to purchase it. Then make a face as if you didn't like it and leave...)
