Dollar General is a great local chain. Not everything only costs a dollar so don't be confused. However, it's located on the main drag and they offer a surprising variety of goods - picture frames, toiletries, inexpensive medicines, clothing, school supplies, and artificial flowers. At holiday times they stuff the shelves with Santas or Easter candy and people come from the backwoods to shop. The staff are local and friendly, and that encourages trust. I shop there for most of my household cleaning supplies - I can get good floor wax for half what it costs at the grocery store. Great place for the thrifty shopper!
