This kind of joint/ hot dog stand is popular in Chicago. It does get crowded in summertime. I think that is because the hot dogs are good, they come with free fries as do all their sandwiches, they also sell soft ice cream and slushees. There is only room for maybe 3 or 4 people to eat inside if they want to stand. I always take it to go or in warm weather eat at one of their outdoor picnic tables. This place kinda reminds me of stands like these I have seen portrayed in movies from the 1950's.
