Primanti Brothers is truly a Pittsburgh classic. Where else can you get a sandwich piled high with both coleslaw AND french fries inside? No, it is far from health food but it sure is tasty! I've never found another place with sandwiches like this anywhere else. You should definitely try this place at least once. My favorite is the cheese steak sandwich with marbled rye, but there are lots of different options on the menu. Supposedly the famous sandwiches were invented when the restaurant first opened, but they forgot to buy plates and utensils so the cook just piled the sides right in with the sandwich. Who knows, and who really cares how they were invented. Just enjoy!
