Savoy is one of those very elegant, very expensive but amazingly relaxed restaurants in New York. Service, food and room are all impeccable here. Once, I had a reservation and we were delayed seating for thirty minutes because of a celebrity tantrum -- the place was so apologetic that we were gifted with free wine and appetizers and it wound up not ruining the occasion at all. The menu changes seasonally and they also have an excellent lunch. Their innovative desserts are particularly pleasing -- I can't say enough for the apple turnovers with black pepper ice cream.
