the studios themselves have a certain amount of character -- old pianos, wood floors, plants. But the spaces are rundown, and floors pitted in places (they're better than many floors in New York, but it only takes putting your toe in the worng place once to have a serious dance injury). The changing rooms are gross, and the last time I was there some altercation happened during my class such that peopel in the hall were threatening to call the cops. Not as bad as Harlequin, but in the same crazy spectrum.
