I once called Mike to request a tuning and he was currently at the Meydenbaur center tuning a grand while a hip-hop group was soundchecking in the background. I couldn't hear anything he was saying...but he was in the middle of TUNING a piano BY EAR.
Anyway, this guy is quite good, and really nice. He has a friend who drives him around and helps out but he mostly does all the tuning, taking the piano apart, fixing parts, etc. by himself.
When we had him tune an old piano he came back for free to fix a string and re-tuned it at no charge!
