The Nathaniel Russell house, unlike it's "companion" (the Aiken-Rhett house), has belonged to the Historic Charleston Foundation for quite some time, therefore allowing them to restore this house to its original condition.
The furnishings are all period pieces, and the wallpaper and paint have been matched to the original late 1700s colors.
We had the pleasure of having a very pleasant and informative docent who gave us a tour of this grand structure.
I highly recommend a tour of this house whether you live in Charleston or are just visiting. If you plan to also visit the Aiken-Rhett house, as well, make sure to visit that one first!
