Horrible, traumatizing experience 11/30/2005

I went to Wax On in Belltown for my first-ever Brazillian. I told the girl (Sandra? Sandy? She never told me her name, I had to call back later to ask and have since forgotten) it was my first time and that I was pretty freaked out about it. She never responded to that, never offered me anything to drink, barely said more than a couple woi\rds to me the entire time. She seemed to be in a hurry even though I was early. She made me wait for 20 minutes and never told me why I was sitting there for so long or when I was going to actually get my wax. The "spa" was very stark, not relaxing at all. The actual waxing room had terribly bright, sterile overhead lighting and blinding white walls. It felt way more like an operating room than a spa, which did not help me be any less freaked out. The girl did not use any powder before waxing (which I have since found out is not so great for the skin), nor did she put any powder or oil or lotion (nothing) on my skin when she was finished. She missed several spots and did not look over when she was finished to make sure she'd gotten everything. When I was leaving, she did not try to sell me anything (which was bad in my case since she neglected to use oil or lotion and it caused a horrible skin reaction). She did not tell me how to take care of it. I left shaking and nearly in tears. My skin reacted terribly...I broke out and it took over a month to clear, and I also had tons of ingrowns. I was so traumatized by the experience I will never go back to Wax On, and it took me 6 months to feel comfortable enough to go to a different spa (Habitude, with my trusted eyebrow waxer Sonya) for a Brazillian. I will never go anywhere but where Sonya works again, no matter the cost. Stay away from Wax On, they are horrible. more
