I get my eyebrows threaded by Avi in Uptown at Salon Image. It on Queen Anne Avenue about a block north of the Uptown theater, Blockbuster, Pagliacci's, and Avi's other family business, a restaurant called Roti, which I also recommend. Yummy north Indian food (Her husband runs it). I was dubious when I first tried it, but now it is my favorite north Indian place. But I digress.
As for your question, I find threading to be a lot easier and less painful than plucking. The first time, it is awkward because you have to hold your skin in certain ways so it is taut, but Avi is really good at explaining that and will not assume you already know. It is very simple and easy and Avi is a total joker, so she will keep you laughing. Normally it is very quick, too, although you need to factor in a few minutes for chatting and for Avi's jokes. This is definitely not the factory-like experience you get at some salons that do waxing.
Avi also does hair, henna, and other things you might expect from an Indian beauty salon as well. I have never partaken, but last time I was there, I got there early and she was just finishing with a customer who drives from the Issaquah highlands to get her hair done by Avi becuase she likes her so much. Oh, and only about a third of Aví's clients who I have met are Indian. I know some people think an Indian beauty salon is basically for Indians. Anyway, give her a call and give it a try.
You can see my earlier review about threading for more details and a list of other places in the area. I have not tried any others myself, though.
Let us know what you think of the experience.
(Oh, and I just remembered which photo is on this site. Now you know why I don't need Avi to do my hair, this sloth in Brazil can take care of that.)
