On Tuesday Nights, you can go to Pacific Beach, drive around aimlessly looking for a parking space, and eventually land at Hennessey's Tavern. This joint holds a fondness for me as it's one of the reasons I live in San Diego now. My husband and I came here on vacation one year from Akron Ohio. We stumbled off the beach into this place and were talking to Julie the waitress about how much we loved San Diego. She said "Well, why don't you move here?" The words hung in the air and became one of the most powerful sentences ever spoken. Why DIDN'T we move here? Good question. We went home, sold our house, and moved here. Thanks Julie. That anecdote aside, Tuesday night at Hennessey's is 2 for 1 burger night, and the burgers are thick, juicy and offer a variety of tasty toppings. The Earth Burger with pineapple swiss cheese and sprouts is a major yum for me. Also appealing are the "Irish Nachos" very thinly sliced potatoes slathered in cheese, bacon and green onions - if it's greasy and cheesy, count me in. After dinner, a few steps and you're in the sand, which is a fine place to walk off the booze if you happen to drink a few too many of their divine margaritas. Or so I've heard...
