The Esquire has been around forever and recently expanded yet again, doubling in size. It has all kinds of character like you would expect from a place that has lasted through all of the downtown Champaign transformations. The new half of it lacks the old character but the trade-off bonus is that it is smoke free and has flat screen televisions.
The food is great - burgers (including meat-free options), etc. and fresh fries. During lent they offer a Friday fish sandwich that is worth trying.
During the summer they have a great outdoor beer garden area.
