An import from England, the Terence Conran shop is located under the Queensboro bridge. It contains two levels of housewares and furniture and interesting gifts. My husband, whom I generally think has little interest in aesthetics and is extremely frugal (bordering on cheap), was almost lured into buying a $1500 minidesk. The aesthetic is clean, modern, dramatic. I have also found cool, inexpensive toys and other knick knacks that make for different stocking stuffers or birthday presents. Sometimes I wish I had had the foresight to have registered here for my wedding, but that wouldn't have been practical and I am generally nothing if not practical......
