Decent food and service 10/25/2005

I had a friend raving about Canyons so I took my family to their Redmond, WA location. Upon arrival we were promptly greeted and seated. My two children grabbed couple of books from the book trunk that was up front - very nice since it occupied them and let the parents talk without too much interruption. My wife went with the Thursday night special, beef fajitas, and I went with the fish tacos. Appetizer was the nachos. The kids had chicken strips and a corn dog. The nachos were pretty good - not that I'm a nacho connoisseur but the shredded chicken added some substance. My fish tacos were pretty substantial and filling. Maybe they could tone down the amount of shredded vegetables but if that's my only real complaint, then the tacos were good. My wife said the fajitas were ok but tasted a bit sweet. Looking at the dish, the fajitas appeared to be lightly covered with some sauce? I tasted the fajita and agreed with her that the dish could do without the sauce - if that was what it was. She only ended up eating about a third of the dish and refused to take the rest home. The kids were happy with the chicken strips and corndog. My fault for not realizing the chicken strips came with an option for fruit instead of the fries. The chicken basket only came with two very small pieces of chicken, the rest was made up of fries. Could use an additional piece of chicken and less fries next time. Overall it was a pleasant dining experience. Service was friendly and quick. Most importantly, the kids seemed to enjoy the time spent at Canyons. more
