Tiny Restaurant, Big Flavor - Great for Lunch 12/3/2005

Lunch in SoHo can be very expensive but I discovered a real bargain on Spring Street. You're shopping, talking on your cell phone, beautiful people watching and working up an appetite. Whew! If you want to preserve some of your hard-earned cashola, consider Bread. I had a fresh made bowl of tomato soup, garnished with a slice of toasted bread and grated Parmigiano Reggiano cheese - Mmmmmm. I added a prosciutto and mozzarella sandwich cum salad. All for about$10 (including tax). If you went to Mickey Dees, you might spend as much and come away with a nothing-burger with fries. I sat at the counter and noshed away on a very tasty meal. The pretty young thing (more accurately, raven-haired beauty) behind the counter added to the ambiance, although the too-loud music was a distraction. They serve great bread too. It comes from Balthazar - right down the street. A filling ten buck lunch in NYC that tastes good - I consider that a minor miracle. more
