Gulick Delicatessen - Great Okazuya 4/11/2006

Gulick Delicatessen is a large okazuya style take out place. I haven't been to all of the okazuyas in town, but this has to be one of the largest. Street parking is a premium on weekends as locals flock to pick up food for parties and picnics. Once you enter, the line forms to the left of the store. When you are finally at the front, the noodles (chow fun or chow mein) are your first choices. Everything is ala carte, so choose from at least 20 different dishes, from different types of tempura, chicken, an assortment of stir fries and fish dishes. At the end of the counter, they have all of their musubi's (onigiri) with your choice of ume, shiso, plain, spam, and inari. If you've never been there, don't open your eyes too wide, because you'll be walking out with a lot of food! more
