They should have a big red flag waving over their shop! Our transmission blew on the freeway, and looking on the internet noticed their ad saying free towing. After getting it towed there, they said they would take a look at it for no charge to determine what was wrong. Came back with a $2800 bill to rebuild the transmission- and they would go ahead and 'not charge us' for the towing and the diagnostics if we got it fixed there. They were going to give us an estimate on fixing the rear brakes, the air conditioner, and the engine sensor lights. They 'fixed' those to the tune of another $2000 without ever giving us the estimate or getting our approval. They agreed to finance $2800 of the bill as we didn't have the money. I say 'fixed' cuz the sensor lights were still going off and we didn't drive more than 5 miles before the transmission started slipping and the gear knob wouldn't shift. We have now taken it back THREE times- the last time they had it in their shop for TWO WEEKS before even test driving it again. After putting a transmission cooler on and completely rebuilding the tranny, they now say they need to replace the radiator in order to keep the transmission from overheating, which is what is supposedly causing all the problems. After three days with no estimate on that either, we told them we needed an estimate from them and then we were going to get a second opinion. Now not only won't they release the car to get another opinion, they REPLACED the radiator (which four transmission shops have told us is completely ridiculuous) and charged us another $350. And now they want us to pay the entire balance before they will give the car back. Really. You have been warned. more
