Koo 11/24/2006

My friends and I tried Koo for the first time last weekend and we were all astounded that we'd somehow managed to overlook this restaurant for so long! Everything was great- from the fusion Japanese food to the understated ambiance and great service. I love that Koo has an extensive daily menu of specials. There were quite a few interesting and unusual types of seafood on the menu- all of which makes for great sushi and sashimi of course. We tried a variety of items, from fresh oysters topped with salmon roe, scallop and shrimp dumplings, tuna/salmon tartar atop freshly made guacamole and served with shrimp chips. All were great but the latter was a definite favorite. They also have a nice listing of innovative sushi rolls along with more traditional types. All of the share plates looked and sounded delicious and I'd love to go back and try some more. Huge list of premium sakes as well, and they even have fuji apple or lychee flavored sake- a steal at only $3.50 a glass! more
