While Elm Street Bookstore does not have the coffee bars or inventory of the big box bookstores, it does possess a local, community feel, which draws a loyal customer base from New Canaan and surrounding towns. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They carry all the current bestsellers, a nice selection of kids books and titles of local interest. You pay full price (vs deep discounting online) but you get true service. If what you want is not in stock, they'll get if for you, often faster than a dot.com. Worth a visit by any true bibliophile.
