I'm thankful for the Angelika because they show independent and art-house films that are sometimes very hard to find elsewhere. But I admit, I long to see these cinematic gems presented in a better-quality environment... with surround sound, comfy seating and theatres that don't rattle and shake when the subway passes underneath. Not a horrible moviegoing experience, but the lo-tech state of things does take away from things just a little bit. Still, I'm glad the Angelica is there, if only for the sake of independent film.
